Building on the success of previous ArcticNet Annual Scientific Meetings, the ASM2009 is designed with the intent to inform participants of innovative Arctic research, essential to the understanding and management of the natural and built environments of the Arctic that are impacted by climate change and globalization. In the spirit of trans-sectoral research, the programme will consist of a combination of concurrent topical sessions and multidisciplinary plenary sessions.
The ASM2009 will begin on the morning of Tuesday, 8 December with Student Day, organized by the ArcticNet Student Association. The official ASM2009 registration reception will follow on Tuesday evening, providing the opportunity to register and meet fellow participants. Topical and plenary sessions will be presented from 08:30 am to 05:00 pm from Wednesday, 9 December to Thursday, 10 December. Two dedicated poster sessions/receptions will be held on the evening of Wednesday, 9 December and Thursday 10 December. Posters will also be available for viewing during the entire week. A banquet dinner will be held at the Crystal Gardens on Thursday evening. Friday, 11 December will be reserved for ArcticNet workshops and the final plenary session. This entire day is scheduled as such in order to facilitate cross-disciplinary research and refine ArcticNet’s Integrated Regional Impact Studies in preparation of the network’s renewal in 2010.
