Student Day
Please join us for ArcticNet’s fifth annual Student Day, one of the largest gatherings of students engaged in Arctic research. Organized by the ArcticNet Student Association (ASA), the event will be held on 8 December 2009 at the Victoria Conference Centre preceding the ArcticNet Annual Scientific Meeting.
The goal of Student Day is to provide an opportunity for students to build and strengthen relationships, partake in dynamic discussions and learn from each other’s research experiences. Student Day is open to all interested individuals and we welcome the participation of students, scientists and representatives from northern communities, Inuit organizations, government and industry.
This year, the ASA is working in close collaboration with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) to merge Student Day with the IPY International Early Career Research Symposium, a career development workshop sponsored by IPY Canada/APECS/ArcticNet/NRF being held from 4 to 8 December in Victoria, BC. In combination, these two events will provide ArcticNet students with the opportunity to present their research to an international audience as well as profit from extended breakout sessions offered during the workshop. Student Day will conclude with the election of the 2010 ArcticNet Student Association (ASA) Executive Committee. Details about Executive Committee positions and the nomination process are available on the ASA website.
The programme for Student Day 2009 will be posted in autumn 2009. Anyone interested in participating in Student Day should indicate their intent when filling out the ASM2009 Registration Form.
Please visit the ASA website to provide the Executive Committee with suggestions or comments regarding Student Day 2009.
