Our host hotel for the ArcticNet sixth Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM2009) is the Fairmont Empress Hotel situated at 721 Government Street, Victoria, BC, V8W 1W5. The Fairmont Empress is conveniently connected to the Victoria Conference Centre – the site of the ASM2009.

Hotel Reservations

Room reservations can be made on-line or by calling the hotel’s Reservations Department at 1-250-384-8111 or the Global Reservations Centre at 1-800-441-1414. Please identify yourself as an ArcticNet ASM2009 participant when reserving to benefit from the conference rates. The deadline is 7 November 2009, however, the special rates will still be effective after this date on a first come first serve basis. You will need to guarantee your reservation with a credit card.

Please note: all reservations, changes and/or cancellations to a reservation must be made directly with the Fairmont Empress Hotel. Accommodation and associated charges are the sole responsibility of each individual ASM2009 participant.

Internet access in rooms

Access to free high speed internet in your room requires you register on-line as a member of the Fairmont President’s Club prior to your arrival at the hotel. Registration to the Club is free of charge.

Parking

Victoria is a pedestrian friendly city, therefore we do not recommmend you rent a car at the airport. Parking at the hotel is available at $28 per day. There are a variety of rental car outlets near the hotel for day trips. For off-site participants, the daily parking rate is $1.75 per hour.

Transportation from Victoria Airport

For transportation from the airport, you can choose from the following options:
1. Akal Airporter Shuttle - $18 per person or $11 for groups of four or more
2. Taxi - $50
